Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Facial Rejuvenation Therapy is the injection of PRP into the skin for tightening, collagen production and rejuvenation purposes. The treatment starts with obtaining blood from the patient and isolating the platelet rich plasma utilizing a centrifuge. Once these cells are removed, they are ready to be injected back into the patients skin. This state-of-the-art, modern treatment has the distinct advantage over chemical facials, since the the PRP cells come from the patient’s body and can directly activate production of collagen and encourage tissue repair from within. Your blood platelets regulate healing and signal other surrounding cells to repair damaged tissue and regenerate new tissue!

Although each patient’s results will vary, most experience a smoother and brighter facial tone and texture, fewer wrinkles, and improvement from sun damage, acne scars and aging. Patients of any age may benefit greatly from PRP therapy. This procedure is also less invasive than surgical options and has little to no downtime.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Hair Restoration Therapy is an innovative technique that is already being used for non-surgical cosmetic treatment and facial rejuvenation and is now available for the treatment of hair loss. What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous concentrated preparation of platelets and the associated growth factors in a small volume of plasma. Platelets are a natural source of a number of growth factors in their natural and biologically-determined ratios.

Platelets release growth factors which regulate the healing cascade by signaling to surrounding cells to repair damaged tissue and regenerate new tissue. Key growth factors involved in this process include but are not limited to:

  • Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF)

  • Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)
  • Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF)

Platelets – Supraphysiologic Range is Optimal

Animal in vitro Clinical Studies Support 1.5 – 3 X Baseline

Those methods with lower concentrations of platelets – 1 to 3 times baseline – showed more robust healing rates than those with higher concentrations 3 to 8 times baseline.

The use of highly concentrated platelet preparations appeared to have an inhibitory influence…reasons could be unwanted inhibitory and cytotoxic effects of growth factors at such high concentrations.

PRP might exert positive effects…in a dose-dependent manner up to a certain level, but adverse effects occur when it is highly concentrated.

Optimal results were observed at a platelet concentration of 2.5 X...increased concentrations resulted in a reduction in proliferation and a suboptimal effect on osteoblast function.

These data reject the hypothesis that increases the concentration of platelets in PRP is beneficial for articular cartilage and the meniscus; furthermore, these findings suggest that high platelet concentrations for intra-articular injection should be considered with caution.

Regulatory Status

FDA cleared 510(k) Class II medical device. Eclipse PRP is intended for the safe and rapid preparation of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from a small sample of blood at the patient point of care. The PRP is mixed with autograft or allograft bone prior to application to a bony defect for improving handling characteristics. 510(k) number: BK110035


1. PRP should be applied to the same patient from whom the blood was drawn.
2. Storage of tubes containing blood at or below 0°C may result in tube breakage.
3. Storage of tubes above 40°C may damage the gel stability.
4. Do not remove conventional rubber stoppers by rolling with a thumb. Remove stoppers with a twist and pull motion.
5. Do not use tubes if foreign matter is present.
6. All liquid preservatives and anticoagulants are clear. Do not use tubes after their expiration date.
7. Do not re-sterilize and do not attempt to clean this product.
8. Do not use products if pouch is damaged.
9. Use prepared platelet concentrate material within 4 hours after drawing blood from patient.
Possible Side Effects
Damage to blood vessels, hematoma, infection and/or irritation.
Temporary or permanent nerve damage that may result in pain or numbness.
As with any injection-based treatment, infection is a slight possibility.
